Grief Therapy

Navigate your loss | Feel supported | Move forward at your own pace

Grief can feel like something you’re just expected to get on with…
but the reality is, it can affect everything.

Feel waves of emotion

One moment you might feel okay, the next it hits you out of nowhere.

truggle to process what’s happened

It can feel hard to make sense of things, or accept the reality of the loss.

Feel alone in it
and lost

Even when people are around you, grief can feel incredibly isolating.

What Is grief and
When Does It Become a Problem?

Grief is a natural response to loss. That loss might be the death of someone close to you, but it can also be the loss of a relationship, a version of your life, your health, or something that mattered deeply to you.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve.

  • Some people cry.

  • Some feel numb.

  • Some stay busy to avoid feeling it.

Grief becomes more difficult when it starts to feel overwhelming, stuck, or like you’re unable to move forward in any way. You might feel like you’re going in circles, or that the intensity of your emotions isn’t easing over time.

At The Growth Place, we support people experiencing grief and loss in Rainham, Kent and online, offering a safe space to process what you’re going through in your own way and at your own pace.

What Causes grief?

Grief is caused by loss, but the impact of that loss can vary hugely from person to person. It’s not just about what has happened, but what that person, relationship or situation meant to you.

Grief can be influenced by:

  • The relationship you had with the person or situation

  • Whether the loss was sudden or expected

  • Unresolved emotions or things left unsaid

  • The level of support around you

  • Previous experiences of loss

Grief is not linear. It can come in waves, shift over time, and show up in ways you might not expect. Understanding your experience of grief is an important part of being able to move through it.

Signs and Symptoms of grief

Grief can affect both the mind and the body. Many people are surprised to learn that physical symptoms are just as common as emotional ones. If you are going through grief, you are not alone. Many people experience grief and loss at some point in their lives, and support is available. It's important to remember that it is ok to feel however you feel and getting support to help you cope is something that can really help you to manage to live an easier life.
